TRY machine Josh Gouws bagged a brace as the Colts secured the OBB Division One runners-up spot with a hard-fought 19-10 victory at Windsor.
In front of a large and vocal home crowd and following some recent epics between the sides, it was Dave Cox’s men who took an early lead through George Bottomley.
They extended their advantage with a fantastic breakaway try, Jordan Navetta feeding Gouws to dot down before the former added the extras.
Windsor rallied and applied nearly 20 minutes off pressure before finally crossing before the interval.
Within five minutes of the restart Gouws and Navetta combined for another seven-points, although Windsor stayed alive with a try of their own.
An unfortunate neck injury to Gouws with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining meant a delay as he was put on a spinal board and then taken to hospital.
Thankfully due to the excellent work of paramedic Grant Strydom and the medical staff from both clubs, a sore and bruised Josh has since been released and is on the road to recovery.
After play resumed, the standard remained high but there was no further score, Rams leap-frogging their opponents to take the silver medals.
Unbeaten Chinnor were crowned champions to end a two-year title streak for Rams.
