CONNOR Stapley will make his 100th Rams appearance as Fraser Honey and Mike Hoyt are given starting debuts when Birmingham Moseley visit Old Bath Road for tomorrow’s National One opener.
Long-serving second row Stapley, who made his debut as an 18-year-old, is joined in the engine room by one of the players picked in last season’s National One Team of the Year, Dan Swain.
Up front hooker Max Hayman – who celebrates his 50th cap – is sandwiched by loose-head prop Paddy Harris and Paul Englezos.
Hoyt, the former Northumbria University graduate who was the Titans’ Players’ Player of the Season last time out, gets a first go on the blind-side flank, with James McRae on the opposite side of the scrum and Robbie Stapley skippering the side from No. 8.
Cornwall captain Honey has made an instant impression since signing from Redruth in the summer, catching the eye in both his pre-season appearances and earning a starting slot at fly-half with Ollie Cole inside him.
Vice-captain Drew Humberstone is partnered by Axel Kalling-Smith in midfield, with Jak Rossiter – one of three alongside Swain and McRae picked in last term’s National One Team of the Season – on the right wing.
Fans’ favourite Zach Clow is on the opposite flank, with the incomparable Henry Bird rounding out the side at full-back.
Ryan Lomas impressed at loose-head prop during the pre-season game at Cork Constitution, and he is joined by the indefatigable James Baker – now into his 20th campaign as a first-team player and getting ever nearer to a staggering 400 appearances, in providing ballast off the bench in the front row.
The third possible debutant is former Forest School and London Irish ace Ben Atkins, who covers all the back row positions.
Ollie Monye will look to keep his dazzling form from the back end of the last campaign going as scrum-half cover, with the squad completed by centre Ellis Jones.
